happiness Restored

The last couple of days I have been putting together another quilt top . This one is recycled fabrics from flanellette sheets .
It will now be folded and put away until after Easter .

It's still very snowy and cold where I live ,just the weather for sitting with sewing or crochet on your knee while watching TV .

I'm off to the shop for nothing in particular except a breath of fresh air.

Bye for now ,

Trauma

I have had a very traumatic experence .
A hacker completely took over my laptop . With help from Bt everything has been sorted but I now realise how vulnerable we are when using computers and laptops .
If anyone gets an email in my name asking for money I can assure you it will not have come from me and I apologise profusely .
At present I feel like going to bed and puting my head under the duvet but instead I shall start a new sewing project.
BT were wonderful .

This Week

Last night I finished my zig zag quilt , it is hand quilted to the 9th degree . I do like it very much , very scrappy but in the style of a cottage quilt

This is the snow outside my front door at 6 this morning . It is now 10 15 am and still snowing and drifting .
I had porridge for my breakfast to keep out the winter chill , but elevensis is calling , coffee and a hot cross bun .

If I get tired of looking at the front of the quilt he reverse is pretty enough as a change

Penny Pinching

I have had one stroke of luck on the financial front this week .
I usually pay £8 to have my eyebrows waxed .
Bluebell and myself were shopping in the town on Monday . While waiting for the lift in the shopping complex we noticed a booth with 3 salon chairs and a sign that said Eyebrow Threading £3 .50  I was there in the chair , in about 3 minutes , all done , brilliant .
We don't usually stop on that particula floor so we had not seen the booth before . The girl said she had been there 2 years .
Surprising what you can miss . That little find made my day .

Some you gain , some you lose . I bought a flight bag from TX Maxx . When I got home I looked in the pockets and the end of the zip came straight off the end . That has to be a journey into town today to return it . It's raining too .

On the up

This morning I wrote about the price of my carrots .
Elizabeth of the blog Cornish Cream says the price of her bread has jumped up 20p in price .
I am now paying 71p for my pint of milk to be delivered. I like my doorstep delivery because it is in a glass bottle .

Gold?

Last week I paid 25p for 2 carrots this week 22p I still feel there must be gold in them there fields .

Allsorts

This is a small table I painted and added roses cut from wallpaper . I bought this table when I was a young girl aged 18 . I'm very fond of it and it has stood the test of time

I finally finished this Jelly roll quilt , Bluebell bought the 1/2 jelly roll and the book I used the pattern from .It was a birthday present .I'm also showing a close up of the quilting I did on a domestic sewing machine . At present I'm finishing what I can before starting anything new .

I had been on the lookout for a pretty butter dish for a long time . I didn't want white and I didn't want a glass one .This came for my mother's day present .It's Portmerion , botanic garden . thankyou Peter and Sue . I also have a M/S gift voucher from David and Alison ,lovely.

S.O.S Barb Oaker from cottonreel

A close up of hexigon butterflies as requested/The hexy is approx a shade bigger than a thumbnail .
It's a long term project , lovely to do . It uses the very small scraps . My cream hexies are all different shades.
I hope you decide to make a quilt like this. Mine covers the top of a double bed at present .
To get a small hex I put - free isometric paper- in the Googl bar and took my size from that .

Sorry

I have been so remiss with my blog lately . The end of winter is really getting to me , it's making my brain into sleep mode .
I'm not getting on with finishing projects that would normally be done but I knew I had to get a move on with my March postcard swap . The theme for this month was recycled . It will be going to Harare , Zimbabwe .
